Seattle Supersonics – A History

On December 20, 1966, Los Angeles businessmen Sam Schulman and Eugene V. Klein and a group of minority partners were awarded the NBA franchise for the city of Seattle. Schulman would serve as the active partner and head of team operations. Named the SuperSonics, they were Seattle’s first professional sports franchise. Beginning play in October of 1967, the SuperSonics were coached by Al Bianchi and featured All-Star guard Walt Hazzard and All-Rookie Team members Bob Rule and Al Tucker. The expansion team stumbled to a 23-59 record, and Hazzard was traded to the Atlanta Hawks before the start of the next season for future Hall-of-Famer Lenny Wilkens. Wilkens brought a strong all-around game to the SuperSonics, averaging 22.4 points per game, 8.2 assists per game, and 6.2 rebounds per game for Seattle in the 1968-69 season. Rule, meanwhile, improved on his rookie statistics with 24.0 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. The SuperSonics, however, only won 30 games

Suns Tickets – Phoenix Suns

The suns came to the NBA in 1968 as an element of an expansion which included the males of Milwaukee. Phoenix compiled a disc of gain-loss 16-66 in their season of beginning and gained the occasion to reverse a coin with the males to determine which team would have the selection of number-a in the outline of 1969 NBA. Milwaukee gained the jet in the air and chose Lew Alcindor (later known under the name of Kareem Abdul-jabbar); the suns chose the central walk of Neal. The suns were implied in another jet in the air of coin which year. Phoenixes and Seattle SuperSonics reversed a coin for the lines with Connie “the falcon” Hawkins, an explosive player who was réadmis with the NBA then having been prevented league seven years earlier during a search for play.

The suns gained the jet in the air, and Hawkins played for the suns of 1969 to 1973, helping the concession at two seasons of profit during this time. The old university of the trainer John

The Portland Trailblazers Travel on the Path to Another NBA Championship

While standing on top of the world is an amazing feat, getting back there can be challenging. For instance, since the Portland Trailblazers won the 1977 NBA Finals, they have not succeeded at winning their second basketball championship. Since 1977, the Trailblazers have returned to the playoffs 25 times, have played in five Conference Finals, and have advanced to two NBA Finals.

When did the Trailblazers begin their journey to the NBA Finals? They were one of three expansion teams that the NBA added during the 1970-1971 season. The franchise chose the name in a “name the team” contest, in which people submitted about 10,000 entries. “Trailblazers” pays tribute to the explorers who traveled across the Oregon Trail during the 1800s. Here are some interesting facts about the state of Oregon:

• Oregon’s official state colors are blue and gold
• Oregon (and New Jersey) are the only two U.S. states with no “self-serve” gas

NBA Playoff Tickets ? Western Conference First Round Predictions

(1) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (8) Oklahoma City Thunder: My best guess to how this series unfolds is that the Thunder come out in game one and get rocked due to youthful jitters in their first playoff game.  I think they’ll steal Game 2 by outhustling the Lakers and will end up taking the series to six games.  It’s extremely difficult to see the Thunder actually pulling off the upset here, but I have to leave just a tiny bit of room for the possibility because of Kevin Durant.  He’s destined to go down as one of the most prolific scorers we’ve ever seen, and he’s 21.  If he puts up 40 in a few games, the Thunder could pull this thing off, but I don’t think he can do it.  Even Durant will be too pumped up for Game 1 and I don’t think the supporting cast is there yet.  It will be interesting to see how well Serge Ibaka can contain Pau Gasol, though.  Prediction: Los Angeles in Six.

(2) Dallas Mavericks vs. (7) San Antonio Spurs: I really like both of these

The Highs and Lows of the Detroit Pistons

The Highs and Lows of the Detroit Pistons

Fred Zollner, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, founded the Detroit Pistons in the 1940′s. The team was originally named the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons. Immediately, the Pistons entered into the National Basketball League (NBL), composed primarily of teams sponsored by corporations in the Midwest.

Led by Bobby McDermott, the team’s guard, the Pistons dominated the NBL and made it to the series championship the first year they competed. However, they lost to the Oshkosh All-Stars. Two years later they were defeated at the NBL Finals again, this time by the Seboygan Redskins, but by only a single point.

In 1944, they at last won their first championship title and they followed that up with another championship win in 1945. Three years later, the Pistons team transferred to the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and in 1949 the NBL and BAA joined to form the National Basketball Association or the NBA. The Pistons were the NBA’s premier squad.

NBA Playoff Tickets ? Top Five Developments in the Playoffs Thus Far

Every postseason, players come out of nowhere to have a tremendous impact and storylines develop from seemingly nowhere.  Here are five things we have been able to take away from the postseason so far.

5.  Jameer Nelson makes the Magic a different team.

The Magic reached the NBA Finals last year with Jameer Nelson still not being 100% following an injury earlier in the year.  This season, however, Nelson is healthy and has made the Magic a noticeably better team offensively.  Nelson is the top scorer for the Magic this postseason (as of May 16th) and one of the main reasons that Orlando was able to breeze through the first two rounds of the playoffs.  With his mid-range game and ability to take the ball to the rack, Nelson should be a good player for the Magic for a while and could even help them win a title this season.

4.  Deron Williams is an elite player.

Some have seen Williams coming for a while but this is the first
