Sports Collectibles And Memorabilia

Collection of sports memorabilia or sports collectibles, antique or modern is restricted by two factors: the money available and the space to be occupied. Once having decided on these basic factors, then it becomes a personal affair. The collectors taste may lead to Basketball Memorabilia, Baseball Memorabilia, NASCAR memorabilia, Golf Memorabilia, Football Memorabilia, Bobble Heads, Diecast Collectibles, Hero Posters, or innumerable other factors. Acquisition of an admired piece may also lead to a determination to get some more of the same, or to find out what the admiration is actually about.

The encyclopedia definition of sports collecting would be like this: “The hobby of sports collecting is about acquiring particular sports items based on a specific sporting interest of the collector. Such sports assortments of sporting things are frequently highly systematic, attractively displayed and carefully cataloged.” Sports collectible (or collectable)

The Phoenix Suns – The Early Years

The Phoenix Suns are a professional basketball team, based in Phoenix, Arizona. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

On January 22, 1968, the NBA awarded expansion franchises to an ownership group from Phoenix and one from Milwaukee.

The primary investors in the Phoenix franchise at its inception had close ties to Tucson, Arizona’s second largest city. They were:

• Richard Bloch, a Southern California investment broker/real estate developer and former Tucson resident (no relation to the Richard Bloch who was the co-founder of tax preparation provider H&R Block).

• Karl Eller, owner of a major outdoor advertising company and one of the Phoenix area’s most influential business leaders at that time. He was a former football player for The University of Arizona;

• Donald Pitt, a Tucson-based attorney;

• Don Diamond, Tucson-based real estate investor

Boston Celtics Playoff Tickets ? Celtics Prove Playoffs Are a Grind, Not a Sprint

In one of the most surprising NBA Finals appearances in recent history, the Boston Celtics are headed back to the league’s top stage to take on the Los Angeles Lakers for another title.  Nobody is surprised to see the Lakers there, of course, but the Celtics were left for dead by many before the playoffs began, me included.  Though the outstanding play of rising star Rajon Rondo has certainly had a lot to do with the Celtics’ postseason success, there seems to be something else going on in Beantown.

One thing that does seem to be very clear is that the Celtics have pulled together a defensive intensity that few teams in the league are capable of.  After slipping by the Miami Heat with surprising ease in the first round of the playoffs, most figured that the Cavs would have just too much firepower for the aging Celtics.  But the Cavs were once again exposed as a one-man show with marginal role players, mostly thanks to a stifling Celtics defense.   After

Orlando Magic – The Early Years

The Orlando Magic officially entered the NBA as an expansion franchise in 1989. Led by a local businessman, Jimmy Hewitt and former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Pat Williams, the Magic hired Matt Guokas as the team’s first coach. The inaugural team compiled a record of 18-64 with players including Reggie Theus, Scott Skiles (now current coach of the Chicago Bulls), Terry Catledge, Sam Vincent, Otis Smith (now current general manager of the Magic), and Jerry Reynolds. In the club’s first draft in 1989, the Magic chose Nick Anderson with the 11th pick in the first round.

The club’s first game was on November 4, 1989, at the Orlando Arena (O-Rena). Despite playing a hard-fought game, the visiting New Jersey Nets won 111- 106. The Magic’s first victory came 2 days later, as the Magic defeated the New York Knicks 118-110.

In the 1990 NBA Draft, the Orlando Magic selected Dennis Scott with the fourth overall pick. Scott, known as a

10 Reasons Why The Evolving Information World Has Changed The Best Ways To Invest Money

Defined within the realm of the statistical Bell Curve, the long tail would reside in the skinny tail at the borders. The long tail, in regards to goods and services, refers to the evolution away from mainstream offerings towards more niche products and services. With the internet drastically reducing the costs of establishing distribution channels, the ability of entrepreneurs to focus more on the longtail sector to fit their customized needs is gaining increasing appeal.

However, almost no one speaks of the longtail of investing. To me, longtail investment strategies are the strategies that do not heavily rely on fundamental or technical analysis, but exploit other strongly predictive factors to produce not only superior returns to traditional investment strategies but also investment opportunities with far better risk-reward paradigms than those produced by traditional investment strategies. Here are 10 reasons why the longtail of investing is the

Nba Tickets – the History of American Basketball

National Basketball Association (NBA) is the body that governs basketball in the United States and Canada. When the group of owners of the top professional basketball teams met in New York at the Hotel Commodore on June 6, 1946, they formed an association known as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). Most of these primary members were the owners of the arenas in the major cities of the United States. In 1949, BAA merged with another league, the National Basketball League (NBL), to form the NBA.

The First NBA Game

The new league’s first game was between the Toronto Huskies and the New York Knickerbockers. The game was played on November 1, 1946 at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, and was won 68-66 by the Knickerbockers in front of a crowd of 7,090 spectators. Considering that every young Canadian then played hockey, this was a very good attendance.

The basketball played then was very different from

Now That?s the Making of a Great Coach

Now That’s The Making of A Great Coach

Matt Fankhauser

Is athletic coaching and leadership coaching in the business world the same thing? It is this writer’s opinion that we can equate the value of team coaching to just about any corporate team. The role of a great leader is to be a great coach, change agent, and motivator. Many lessons parallel in both the business world and amateur and professional sports world. For example, tracking and measuring the results of the influence of a coach is when the time runs out, there is always a score to indicate whether the coaching and learning’s are transferring to results.

Many successful coaches have been noted in the sports world. John Wooden, a legend of the NCAA Basketball world, won ten National Championships during his reign at UCLA. Phil Jackson helped the Chicago Bulls to five NBA Championships and then led the Los Angeles Lakers to three. Bill Belichick

Larry Legend – The NBA Player

Larry Bird is widely regarded as one of the three greatest NBA players to ever lace up their sneakers on basketball’s premiere stage alongside Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. He led the Celtics to three NBA championships in the eighties before retiring from the NBA in 1992. In 1996, he was voted to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998.

Bird was born in West Baden Springs, Indiana and his family experienced much financial difficulty during his early years. The Bird family was also embroiled in personal turmoil, which came to a head when his father, Joe Bird, committed suicide in 1975. Bird admits that being poor motivated a great deal. His humble beginnings also earned him the “The Hick From French Lick.”

The most famous of Bird’s nicknames was “Larry Legend,” which he earned for his exploits on the court and for having a sixth sense about the game. He

Rick Fox to Appear in Second Season of Ugly Betty

Guest stars have been lining up for a stint on the second season of the highly acclaimed comedy series, Ugly Betty. The list include retired professional basketball player, Rick Fox, as confirmed by ABC last week. Fox will be appearing in a couple of episodes as Dwayne, the bodyguard for Mode Magazine’s ice queen herself, Wilhelmina Slater, played by Vanessa Williams.

In real life, Williams and Fox have been married and have a daughter named Sasha together. Rick Fox and Vanessa Williams first got married in 1999, in a private ceremony in the Carribean. A few months later, the couple renewed their vows at a church in New York City . However, in August 2004, a little before Fox retired from the Los Angeles Lakers, the former basketball pro filed for divorce from Williams. Neither of the two parties publicized the reason behind the split, but Fox’s spokeswoman Staci Wolfe told the Associated Press that the two will still put their daughter
